Safety Matters Summer Camp

A Free Three-Day Safety Education Program for Children Ages 8–12

About the Program

The Abingdon Fire Company Safety Matters Summer Camp provides children ages 8 through 12 with hands-on safety education designed to build confidence, awareness, and practical life skills.

Throughout this free three-day program, participants will learn important safety concepts from experienced first responders and community safety professionals through interactive lessons, demonstrations, and activities. Topics may include fire safety, first aid awareness, emergency preparedness, personal safety, bicycle safety, water safety, and more.

Snacks will be provided each day.

Fire Safety

Learn how to prevent fires and respond safely during emergencies.

The Safety Matters Summer Camp is part of the Abingdon Fire Company’s ongoing commitment to community risk reduction and public safety education.

By teaching children practical safety skills at an early age, we help build confidence, encourage responsible decision-making, and create a safer community for everyone.

The lessons learned during this program can benefit participants for years to come.

Registration is required and space is limited. Please complete the form below for each child attending the program.

Parents or guardians will be asked to provide emergency contact information, medical considerations, authorized pickup information, and photo release preferences as part of the registration process.

Participants and presenters from local, state, and federal agencies may also include participants on their social media outlets. We DO NOT include the name(s) of your child or “tag” them in the picture. For your child’s image to be included, Abingdon Fire Company must have your written permission on file while they participate in the Abingdon Fire Company Safety Matters program.
