At approximately 9:39 PM last night, Abingdon Fire Company – MD responded to a reported chimney fire in the 3400 block of Albantowne Way in Edgewood.
Upon arrival, crews confirmed that the fire had extended from the chimney into the attic area of the two-story home. Firefighters quickly initiated fire attack and checked for extension to prevent further spread throughout the structure.
Abingdon was assisted by our mutual aid partners from:
- Joppa Magnolia Volunteer Fire Company
- The Bel Air Volunteer Fire Company
- Kingsville Volunteer Fire Company
- Aberdeen Proving Ground Fire & Emergency Services Local F-267
Thanks to coordinated operations and strong interagency teamwork, crews were able to bring the situation under control and protect the remainder of the home.
Incidents like this serve as an important reminder to ensure chimneys and fireplaces are properly inspected and maintained, especially during colder months.
We appreciate the continued support of our mutual aid partners and the community we proudly serve.
