Share Post:

This past weekend, Abingdon Fire Company held its annual picnic at Conrad’s Seafood Restaurant in Abingdon. The annual event provides a special opportunity for our members and their families to come together while the Company recognizes and appreciates the countless volunteer hours and dedication our members give to our community throughout the year.

This year, Abingdon Fire Company Historian Steven Muccioli presented the first-ever McComas Family Traditions Award. The award recognizes immediate and extended family members who have been part of Abingdon Fire Company’s membership throughout the years and celebrates the tradition of families serving together.

The McComas family has deep roots in Abingdon Fire Company, dating back to the Company’s unofficial founding in 1924 and formal organization in 1925. Generations of the McComas family have served the Company, continuing a legacy of dedication and volunteerism.

Abingdon Fire Company is proud to recognize the McComas family and the generations of service they represent. Their commitment is a true example of the family tradition, fellowship, and volunteer spirit that have helped make Abingdon Fire Company a cornerstone of our community for more than 100 years.
