From event planning and fundraising to recordkeeping, finance, and community outreach, administrative volunteers ensure our firefighters and EMTs have the resources and support needed to serve the community. Role Overview

As an Administrative Member with Abingdon Fire Company, you will:

  • Provide operational and organizational support through recordkeeping, finance, logistics, and fundraising.
  • Assist with community outreach, public education, and fire company events.
  • Support recruitment, retention, and volunteer recognition initiatives.
  • Maintain communication, correspondence, and documentation to ensure smooth company operations.
  • Contribute to special committees and projects that strengthen the Fire Company.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage and track records, forms, and reports accurately.
  • Assist with financial activities, budgeting, and fundraising campaigns.
  • Support planning and execution of community events and public safety programs.
  • Represent the company with professionalism when interacting with the public.
  • Work alongside Fire and EMS members to ensure the success of all company initiatives.

Physical Requirements

While Administrative Members are not expected to perform the physical duties of Firefighters or EMTs, candidates should be able to:

  • Operate office equipment (computers, printers, phones, etc.).
  • Assist with event setup, fundraising activities, or light lifting when needed.
  • Work in both office and community event environments.

Training & Support

Administrative Members will receive orientation and training specific to their roles, including:

  • Company procedures, communication, and recordkeeping.
  • Fundraising and event planning best practices.
  • Opportunities to participate in leadership development and continuing education.
