No matter which role you choose, you’ll receive training, mentorship, and support from day one. You bring the dedication — we’ll provide the tools to help you succeed.
What to Expect After You Apply
- Submit Your Application – Complete the online form below with your personal information and role of interest.
- Application Review – Our membership team will review your submission and contact you with next steps.
- Interview & Orientation – Meet with our team to learn more about the fire company and the expectations of membership.
- Probationary Membership – New members begin as probationary members, gaining training, mentorship, and hands-on experience.
- Active Membership – Upon completing probation, you’ll be voted in as a full member of Abingdon Fire Company.
Requirements Reminder
Before applying, be sure you’ve reviewed our Eligibility & Requirements page. Key requirements include:
- Minimum age of 16 years
- Passing a fire department physical exam (provided at no cost)
- Completing at least 12 in-station duty hours per month
- Commitment to training, meetings, and community service
