AFC Crews Respond to Working Auto Fire with Multiple Explosions

On Friday December 19th at approximately 6:02am, Abingdon Fire Company was alerted for an auto fire in the 1400 block of Handlir Drive in Riverside. Engine 414 (Long Bar Harbor station) was out the door in less than 60 seconds with a crew of 4 volunteers. EMS Members Receive Training on New Maryland State Police Helicopter

On November 24, 2014, several EMS members from Abingdon Fire Company attended training on the new Maryland State Police Aviation Section ("Medevac") helicopter. Over the last two years, the MSP Aviation Command has slowly been transitioning to the new AW-139 aircraft. AFC Volunteers Attend Local Elementary School's "Hallway of Heroes" Reception

Earlier this month, fourth graders at William S. James Elementary School asked Abingdon Fire Company to participate in their "Hallway of Heroes" project. During their unit on "writing to inform," students sent out questionnaires to firefighters and EMTs, asking questions such as "What is your favorite color?" and "Why did you choose your career even though it may possibly be dangerous?" New EMS Unit for AFC

EMTs and Paramedics of the Abingdon Fire Company are anxiously awaiting the delivery of our new Ambulance 491. This 2014 Ford/Horton unit will replace a 2007 Ford that has served us well, running thousands of EMS calls during its life at AFC.
